For paranoia about 'what other people think' : remember that only some hate, a very few love - and almost all just don't care.

My message to all men is that you have to kill pride. You’ve been taught that pride is a manly thing, that pride is a good thing. But the problem with pride is that it stops you from growth. When you’re so proud that you won’t change, you’ve got problems. … When you kill that pride, instantly, you become a better person, because now you’re listening. Now you don’t know it all. Now you’re humble. Now you can grow and get smarter.

Terry Crews, the Feminist: “Millions Have Died Because of Male Pride” [x]

In which Crews, a big strong male (also Brookyn Nine-Nine actor, former 6-season NFL player, and supporter of the Polaris Project) breaks down how to be a male ally.

Everybody’s strange everywhere. Most of the trick of being a social animal is pretending you’re not. But who do you fool? Nobody worth talking to.

There can be no rebirth without a dark night of the soul, a total annihilation of all that you believed in and thought that you were.

Once we realise that we are not our mind, we have to deal with understanding that we are not responsible for the way our road went and for all the curves it had to make to bring us at the point of Now. Our mind plays this trick over and over and when we realise that we are not our mind - it makes a twist and creates new illusion - illusion that everything is illusion. It is not possible to realise wholeness, oneness with mind, because thats the way brain functions - this amazing instrument categorise and organise things, making all the best for our bodies to survive and be well, and wholeness cant be categorised, it cant be divided and conceptualised in words, it can only be experienced in the present moment. . Everything is illusion, but concept of illusion is illusion also, how about that?:} have a nice day :)

Lost opportunities, lost possibilities, feelings we can never get back. That’s part of what it means to be alive. But inside our heads - at least that’s where I imagine it - there’s a little room where we store those memories. A room like the stacks in this library. And to understand the workings of our own heart we have to keep on making new reference cards. We have to dust things off every once in awhile, let in fresh air, change the water in the flower vases. In other words, you’ll live forever in your own private library.

And there was this thirty-something guy with glasses and a bushy beard propping up the bar. What set him apart from the other guys with beards and glasses was that he had a hat, and he was trying to cadge pints of beer with an interesting chat-up line: "I'm a fantasy writer, you know. My third book just came out—it's called 'The Colour of Magic'." So you'd buy him a drink because, I swear, he had some kind of bibulous mind-control thing going, and he'd tell you about the book, and then you'd end up buying the book because it sounded funny, and then you were trapped in his snare forever.
